Welcome to Good Fat.
I write about nourishment, bodies, hunger, abundance and food.
What makes your belly and soul feel full, fed, and enlivened? What cripples your ability to know your own hunger, and to listen to your body?
This isn’t a pro-diet page, or an anti-diet page. I’ve been on every diet imaginable and all of them worked and all of them didn’t work. As I reach glorious mid-life, I crave nuance, and I devour knowledge but only if it feeds my peace. Anything else is composted.
This is the Substack to read when you’re hungry for something you can’t name, that can’t be found in the fridge or the snack drawer. When you need a chunk of nutrition talk, a particular bite of knowledge to explore. When you just want to feel less confused about what’s real for you, about what’s important in a world trying to sell you something to make you more fit/healthy/ideal. We are all going to die one day, but will you have lived?
I’m obsessed with how and what we feed ourselves, and why. Sometimes this involves actual food, but sometimes it’s the stories, the junk, and the delicious morsels we remember forever. I am endlessly fascinated by our liquid crystalline bodies, and the overlap between food, bodies and spirituality. How what we believe shapes our realities. How what we eat shapes our cells. How what we believe about what we eat determines how our bodies show up after we eat it. I’m less curious about wellness trends than I am about the meaning of them.
This is the Substack to return to when you have turned away from what nourishes you.
As Geneen Roth says, “It’s not about the food, but it’s not not about the food.”
Mindset work and becoming healthy is messy and unending. I am aroused by the question why am I here
Perhaps you are, too.
I don’t have answers, but I sure love asking the questions. I value free speech, open minds, and I love a good conspiracy theory. Especially if it’s witchy AF. Finding out that I’m wrong is the most wonderful thing.
About Me:
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I spent twenty years in New York City. I trained as an actress and received my Masters degree in Drama Therapy from New York University. I returned to writing (my first love) in 2009 and have not stopped. I do know a thing or two about health, wellness and nutrition: I hold certifications in Holistic Health coaching, Mindset and Life Coaching, and from the Quantum Biology Collective.
My debut novel, Rich Soil, is arriving March 9, 2027 from Rise Literary. It’s a story of a woman navigating grief, haunted by her past and coming alive to herself in a new landscape of her desires and truths. Stay tuned!
When I’m not writing, I’m cooking, lying in the sun, reading, dorking out on health stuff, playing tennis, hiking, and hanging with my three kids, my husband, my perfect cat, two doggies and lizard, Rango.
